Export your WordPress content as Markdown and JSON
Contentrain Bridge is a free, open-source WordPress plugin. Choose the content, review how it is modelled, then download a ZIP or send it to a branch in your own GitHub repository. Your WordPress site is not modified.
# free WordPress plugin, GPL-2.0-or-later
✓ Posts and pages
✓ Custom fields as real collections
✓ Interface text
✓ Local media copied into media/
→ ZIP, or a branch in your own GitHub repo
What it exports
Your WordPress content as editable Markdown and JSON
Bridge exports posts, pages and custom post types with their fields, media, categories and tags, and the interface text you choose. Advanced Custom Fields groups and repeaters become their own models with named fields, not one anonymous bag of values.
- Posts, pages and custom post types
- ACF groups and repeaters as their own models
- Interface text you review before it travels
How it works
Choose, review, then send it where you want
Open Tools > Contentrain Bridge in wp-admin. Choose the content, review the generated models and the interface-text candidates, then validate and finalize. Download the result as a ZIP or send it to a branch in your own GitHub repository. Both are free.
- A ZIP download or a branch in your GitHub
- No account needed
- The export goes only where you send it

Media
Media travels with the content
Uploads are copied into media/ and the content is relinked to them, so the exported repository does not depend on your site for images. A file over 8 MB, or one missing from the uploads directory, keeps its WordPress URL and is named in the coverage report.
- Uploads copied and relinked
- Limits written into the coverage report
Your site
Your WordPress site is not modified
Bridge reads your content and writes the export. It does not change your posts or settings. One switch, off by default, lets Contentrain Migrate read your pages and media through robots.txt; turning it off removes that group again.
- Free and open source under GPL-2.0-or-later
- Secret-looking keys are left out of exports
- robots.txt changes only when you turn the switch on
With Contentrain Migrate
Export the content yourself, or move the whole site
Bridge is free on its own. If you want the whole site moved to an Astro project and checked against the original, Contentrain Migrate is a separate paid service that can use Bridge to export your content for the move.
- Bridge: free content export
- Migrate: the whole site, moved and checked
Common questions
Does Bridge need an account?
No. Bridge is free and needs no account. The export goes only where you send it: a ZIP download or a branch in your own GitHub repository.
Are media files exported?
Yes, when you include media. Each upload and its generated sizes are copied into media/ and the content is relinked to them. Files over 8 MB, files missing from disk, and anything past the export’s media budget keep their WordPress URL and are listed in the coverage report.
Where do I get it?
From the WordPress.org plugin directory, or install it from Plugins > Add New in wp-admin by searching for Contentrain Bridge. The source is on GitHub.
